How to add cameras

Choose the right connection type, follow the steps, then use the troubleshooting list if something fails.

1. Choose a connection method

Prefer Cloud Easy Connect when you can. EZVIZ, Imou and Dahua DoLynk NVR/DVR need no static public IP and no port forwarding. Everything else needs a reachable endpoint on your network — usually a job for whoever installed the cameras.

  • EZVIZ camera — cloud, serial + verification code
  • Imou / LeChange camera — cloud, serial + security code
  • Dahua NVR or DVR — DoLynk cloud, serial + SC code, then pick stable channels
  • Other IP cameras or recorders — RTSP, ONVIF or direct IP with port forwarding

2. Add an EZVIZ camera (cloud)

  1. Power the camera and confirm it is online in the EZVIZ app.
  2. In primiHorse (web or Android app), choose Add camera → EZVIZ.
  3. Enter the serial number and verification code from the camera label.
  4. Save and wait for the first live frame or snapshot.

3. Add an Imou camera (cloud)

  1. Confirm the camera is online in the Imou app.
  2. In primiHorse, choose Add camera → Imou.
  3. Enter the serial number and security code from the label.
  4. Save and check live view.

4. Add a Dahua NVR / DVR (DoLynk cloud)

Important: the recorder must not stay bound to a personal DMSS / DoLynk Care account. Cloud ownership is exclusive — remove it from DMSS first, then add it here.

  1. In DMSS, delete the recorder from any personal account that already owns it (or use Request to unbind with the device password).
  2. Find the serial number and SC code / device password on the recorder label.
  3. In primiHorse, choose Add camera → Dahua DoLynk.
  4. Enter serial and SC code, then select the channel covering that stable.
  5. Repeat for each stable channel you want monitored (same recorder, different channel).

5. Add via RTSP, ONVIF or direct IP

  1. Note the camera or NVR local IP, RTSP port (often 554) and login.
  2. On your router, forward those ports to the device and use your public hostname or IP in primiHorse — not a private 192.168 address unless the forward is already working.
  3. In primiHorse, choose the RTSP / ONVIF / direct connection option and enter host, port, username, password and stream path.
  4. For multi-channel NVRs, set the path or channel for the stable you want watched.

6. Troubleshooting

If add camera fails or live view never starts, match the message below.

“Already registered to another DoLynk / DMSS account” (Dahua)
A Dahua recorder can only belong to one cloud owner at a time. Open DMSS (or DoLynk Care) on the account that currently owns it, delete the device there, then add it again in primiHorse with the SC code from the label. If you no longer have that account, use DMSS “Request to unbind” with the device password.
“Authentication failure” or the camera adds but never shows live video (Dahua)
Usually the same as above: the recorder is still bound to a personal DMSS account, so live streams cannot open on our DoLynk product. Unbind it in DMSS first, delete the broken camera in primiHorse, and re-add it.
Wrong serial or verification / SC code
Use the code printed on the camera or recorder label — not your Wi‑Fi password and not your primiHorse login. For EZVIZ it is the verification code; for Imou the security code; for Dahua the SC code / device password. Double-check letters that look like numbers (0/O, 1/I).
Camera offline / not found
Confirm the device is powered on and online in the vendor app (EZVIZ, Imou or DMSS) before linking. Cloud Easy Connect needs the camera or recorder already talking to the vendor cloud.
EZVIZ encryption / video encryption error
If the EZVIZ app has video encryption on, enter the same verification code when adding in primiHorse, or turn encryption off in the EZVIZ app (Settings → Video Encryption) so continuous monitoring can run.
RTSP / ONVIF / direct IP: connection refused or timed out
primiHorse’s servers must reach the camera or recorder from the internet. On your router, forward the RTSP (and usually HTTP) ports to the device’s local IP, and use your public IP or a dynamic DNS hostname. LAN-only addresses like 192.168.x.x will not work unless you have a working port forward.
RTSP: username or password rejected
Use the camera or NVR login (often admin + the device password set during installation), not your primiHorse account. Some recorders need a separate RTSP user enabled in their settings.
Wrong channel on an NVR / DVR
Add the recorder once, then pick the channel that covers that stable. Dahua DoLynk channels are usually numbered from 0; Hikvision-style RTSP paths often use channel 1 as 101, channel 2 as 201, and so on. Try the next channel if the picture is a different yard.
I want to keep using DMSS / EZVIZ / Imou as well
Cloud P2P is exclusive for Dahua DoLynk: once the recorder is on primiHorse’s product it should not stay bound to a personal DMSS account. For other brands, keep using the vendor app where the manufacturer allows it. If you must keep DMSS as the primary owner, connect that recorder in primiHorse via static IP / RTSP instead of DoLynk cloud.
